Sustainable Soya (RTRS)
The soya we use comes from suppliers in South America, North America and Asia. The cultivation of the soya has no negative impact on the tropical rainforests and the soya is not genetically modified.
Schouten Europe B.V. is a member of the Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS).
Roundtable on Responsible Soy
The Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS) is an international platform in which soya manufacturers, the soya trade, the processing industry, banks and social organisations work together to develop sustainability criteria for global soya production and to implement these in practice.
At the general meeting of the RTRS of May 2007, it was agreed to lay down the following verifiable criteria for soya production, in relation to the following social and environmental topics: Employee rights – Land rights – Respect for small-scale and traditional land utilisation – Well-being of indigenous population – Protection of biodiversity – Water consumption – Soil fertility – Use of pesticides – Impact on the infrastructure.
Through this membership, Schouten aims to find solutions for sustainable and responsible global soya production.
